A Guernsey County Story
No age of technology or speed of travel can overshadow the simplicity and natural beauty of Guernsey County. The county's early frontiersmen and Native Americans must have marveled at the natural scenic beauty the land afforded them-just as it continues to do for visitors and residents today. There is far more to Guernsey County than what you may see at first glance. The county's history and heritage is an intriguing combination of natives, immigrants, settlers and entrepreneurs who threw themselves into the business of the day and helped shape a nation.
A Glass Act
Whether you are a glass collector, a history buff or are just looking for a unique road trip, then Guernsey County has the ticket or should we say pass, for you! The Glass Pass is an exclusive ticket to a glass lover's pilgrimage all within a couple hours' drive of Cambridge, Ohio. The new pass provides individuals with special discounted admission to 11 of the most historic and interesting glass attractions in Southeast Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
All American Road
Long before it was hip to take a trip on Route 66, the National Road (Route 40) served as America's first highway to adventure. Positioned along America's early frontier, Guernsey County, Ohio has been welcoming travelers to the area for more than 200 years. Today's visitors come in search of an idyllic America in which Main Street U.S.A. is the hear t of a community and life moves at a more relaxed pace.
Byesville Scenic Railway
Be transported to a bygone era, when coal was king and whistle-stop train stations dotted the landscape. Each spring, summer and fall, passengers climb aboard the Byesville Scenic Railway to enjoy a 1-½ hour-long round trip train excursion through scenic southeastern Ohio. Departing from Byesville, vintage coach cars take passengers through the beautiful countryside while a first-person interpreter makes the trip educational and entertaining.
A Dickens of a Christmas
Take a trip back in time and experience old world England as historic downtown Cambridge, Ohio, is charmingly transformed into a Dickens Victorian Village each holiday season. From early November through mid-January each year, visitors are invited to stroll amidst many displays of lifelike figures representing classic scenes from Victorian society.
